Sialic Acid is abundant in swiftlet nests
It is well known that swiftlet nest is rich in sugars, organic acids, free amino acids, sialic acid, and are known to have a particularly high content of sialic acid.

When the ability of inducing various growth factors was measured by cells added with SAO®, the production of IGF-1 was particularly remarkable. Compared with sialic acid, SAO® had a significantly higher ability to activate cells and acted effectively in vivo.
In addition to platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF), the production of FGF-β, epidermal cell proliferation factor (EGF) and hepatocyte proliferation factor (HGF) also increased, with an increase rate of more than 50%.
Multicellular organisms consist a large number of cells with different functions, and the Extracellular Matrix (ECM) is normal in order for these cells to function stably in each tissue. Therefore, when measuring the amount of collagen in ECM components, it is shown that the addition of SAO® can induce more than 20 times the production of type I collagen compared with the no addition (Control) of SAO®.
